692 5th Avenue NY | Swarovski

692 Quinta 5ta Avenida Nueva York Swarovski

In 2009, the Austrian crystal maker Swarovski set up a modestly-sized store on the heels of debuting their far ritzier crystallized flagship in Soho that same year. This store carries a range of that brand’s figurines, jewelry and couture, home decor, chandeliers, loose crystal elements. What the location lacks in size, it more than makes up for in tourist impulse purchase temptation, especially during the Christmas shopping season.

An oversized snowflake that hangs over the intersection of 5th Avenue and 57th Street (set up by UNICEF) acts as an unofficial advertisement for Swarovski. In fact, in 2004, Swarovski created s 9-foot-diameter (2.7 m), 550-pound (250 kg) star that was installed on top of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City for the first of five consecutive years.
