DeBeers, long known for having the finest diamonds in the world, decided to set up a retail presence on 5th Avenue’s high-profile flagship strip in 2004, away from the city’s Diamond district (which runs on West 47th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue). This retail presence was set up in a partnership with veteran luxury retailer Louis Vuitton. Before the launching of its New York store, DeBeers diamonds were only accessible to those visiting London or Tokyo.
DeBeers’ signature engagement ring, Forever (from $1,800), is a customizable option that allows you to pick from a preselected range of weights, clarities, and settings. Its customers, knowing that they are purchasing DeBeers diamonds from the source, can spend anywhere from a couple of thousand dollars to several million — depending upon the size of the stone.
